Sam Cece
Chairman and Chief Executive Officer
Sam Cece's executive management expertise is the result of over 18 years in enterprise software and systems sales, marketing and operations. Before StrongMail Systems, Mr. Cece joined BEA Systems pre-IPO and held a number of key, world-wide, senior management positions during his tenure including President of the Global Services Division (BEA's largest single P&L); Vice President and General Manager of BEA's WebXpress Division; and Vice President of Worldwide Marketing. Prior to joining BEA, Cece held marketing management positions at Avid Technology, DigiDesign, Pyramid Technology Corporation and Racal-Vadic. Cece holds a B.S. degree from Woodbury University.
Venky Ganesan
Director
Venky is a Managing Director based in Globespan's Palo Alto office where he focuses on enterprise software and infrastructure investments. His active portfolio consists of investments in Exeros, Fogbreak, Nominum, Plaxo, Sendia, Steelwedge, and StrongMail Systems. Prior to Globespan, Venky was a Vice President of JAFCO Ventures where he focused on enterprise software investments. Prior to founding Trigo Technologies, Venky was an Associate in JAFCO's Boston office where he envisioned the idea behind Trigo and where the company was incubated at the time of inception. As co-founder and Chief Operating Officer of Trigo Technologies, Inc. Venky played an integral role in helping the company take the leadership position in the product information management space. Trigo was accquired by IBM resulting in a substantial investment return for all investors. Previously, Venky worked with McKinsey & Co. in their Los Angeles and Johannesberg offices. He also was a program manager at Microsoft's Encarta group. Venky received degrees in Computer Science, Math, and Economics from both the California Institute of Technology and Reed College.
Mark Kvamme
Director
Mark Kvamme focuses on software and services investments. Prior to joining Sequoia Capital in 1999, Mark was Chairman of USWeb/CKS and Chairman and CEO of CKS Group prior to the merger with USWeb. Earlier in his career Mark was a Director of International Marketing for Wyse Technology, the President and CEO of International Solutions, and was a founding member of Apple France. Mark has a BA in French Economics and Literature from the University of California at Berkeley.
Sangam Pant
Director
Prior to joining Evercore Ventures, Sangam Pant was the General Manager and Executive Vice President of eCompanies Incubator where he was responsible for product, technology and business development functions. Prior to joining eCompanies, Mr. Pant was Vice President of Integration and Operations for Lycos. During his tenure at Lycos, as Vice President of Engineering, Mr. Pant led the research, product development, quality assurance and operations groups for Lycos.com. Before joining Lycos, Mr. Pant was director of software development with AT&T's New Media Services and prior to that he directed software development efforts for Ziff-Davis and Digital Equipment Corporation. Mr. Pant holds four patents and has authored numerous publications. Mr. Pant received his B.S. in Electronic Engineering from Maharaja Sayajirao University in Baroda , India , his Master of Science degree from the University of Florida and an M.B.A. from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.
Tim McQuillen
Chief Information Officer and Founder
Tim McQuillen most recently managed all technical operations for L90, Inc. Mr. McQuillen successfully directed L90's technical operations and engineering teams for this top-tier advertising network with over $40 million in annual revenue. McQuillen was also responsible for all of the systems and network operations that supported adMonitor™, an email and online marketing application service provider that reached over 65% of all Internet users.
Prior to L90, Mr. McQuillen was Director of Business Development and Marketing for TigerEye Consulting, LLC, an online-based executive technical recruiting firm and Associate Partner of Quest Worldwide, an executive technology staffing company. McQuillen holds a B.A. in Psychology from the University of Texas at Austin.
Michael Della Penna
Director
Della Penna is a respected marketing thought leader with a solid track record of launching successful marketing, branding and sales strategies for leading public and private companies. Most recently, Michael served as chief marketing officer for Epsilon, a leading provider of multi-channel, data-driven marketing services. While at Epsilon, Della Penna led all corporate marketing, branding, market positioning, lead generation and communications efforts. Prior to joining Epsilon, Della Penna was CMO at Bigfoot Interactive, which became Epsilon after its 2005 acquisition. Before that, he was vice president of strategic development at CNET Networks, Inc., where he designed key strategic plans to increase revenue and grow and retain key audience segments. Previously, Della Penna was vice president of marketing at ZDNet, which was later acquired by CNET Networks and lead direct response marketing efforts for a leading enterprise software provider, Cheyenne Software (now CA/Computer Associates). Michael received a B.B.A and an M.B.A. from Hofstra University.
