StrongMail Supports Email Metric Standardization; Joins New Industry Coalition
StrongMail underscores critical email measurement and management issues through eec research, successful webinar, and membership in JupiterResearch-sponsored Email Measurement Accuracy Coalition
Redwood City, Calif., April 16, 2007 — StrongMail Systems, Inc., the innovation leader in email infrastructure software, today bolstered its support for standardized email metrics and bounce data by announcing its charter membership in JupiterResearch's newly formed Email Measurement and Accuracy Coalition (EMAC). StrongMail has long endorsed the establishment of standardized email metrics and bounce data, and has championed the cause through various trade organizations, industry articles, survey research and speaking engagements.
Establishing standardized email metrics requires cross-industry involvement, and StrongMail applauds JupiterResearch's initiative in forming the EMAC and assigning leadership to resident email expert and research director, David Daniels. As a diverse working group of email marketing professionals, the EMAC fulfills the recommendation put forth in "The State of Email Metrics & Bounce Management," a March 2007 Email Experience Council (eec) white paper featuring new research on mailer and ESP deliverability practices.
As co-chair of the eec bounce project producing the research and analyzing the results in the aforementioned white paper, StrongMail has taken an active role in drawing attention to the challenges presented by inconsistent email metrics and bounce management. Most recently, StrongMail hosted a highly successful interactive webinar with Pivotal Veracity and the eec that discussed the survey findings as well as solutions to the problems that they exposed. Of the 950 professionals who registered for the event, more than 650 participated in the dialogue. An archive of the webinar is available.
"Industry consensus on the core metrics for measuring the effectiveness of email marketing is not only critical for producing relevant industry benchmarks and comparisons, but essential to advancing the medium," said Dave Lewis, vice president of market development at StrongMail Systems. “The Email Experience Council (eec) has done a great service in building awareness about the email metrics and bounce management issues. Under the leadership of David Daniels, the EMAC now represents our best opportunity for bringing together leadership from across the industry to effectuate change."
StrongMail's involvement in the EMAC complements the ongoing efforts that the company has made through its leadership in the Email Service & Provider Coalition, the ecc, the Messaging Anti-Abuse Working Group, and other leading industry organizations.
StrongMail has also written several articles and resources that address the challenges presented by inconsistent bounce data and how to overcome them with smart bounce management. More information on StrongMail's position can be found in its white paper "Getting Smart About Bounce Management".
